Need help decoding info from plate as for exterior/interior color.

43 - Lime Green
G - Does that mean the convertible was Green?

interior color - ?

Hi Harold, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. The code 43 is for Lime Green and the G is for a green convertible top. The interior code is listed to the left where it says trim. It will be a 3 digit number which will tell you what color the interior is and whether bucket or bench seats were installed. If you can attach a picture of it, there is also other information on it regarding when and where your car was built.

Harold, I don't know how I didn't see those pictures before but I see them now. Your trim code of 972 is for a green vinyl bucket seat interior. Your can was built in Lansing the 2nd week of February, 1971.

There are two different sources to obtain the paint code. The paint charts I have show the PPG code for 43 Lime Green is 2334. There is also the paint chart from Rinshed-Mason which shows the paint code as A-2445D. Either of the sources should get you the correct mixture.

Harold I'm not exactly sure where you could find one of them. I don't see many of them on cars either although I have seen at least one before so they are made by somebody.

Hi. Other than finding an original which is hard, expensive, and the one's I've seen look like they need a lot of work, you can check out 1) Thornton Reproductions. They make a high quality hood, metal frame, and I think around $3000. 2) The Parts Place where I got mine is a good hood, not quite the level of a Thornton although I've heard that Thornton makes them for the Parts Place. Not sure if this is true. My hood fit well and is also a metal frame. It ran about $1500. 3) There are others that are cheaper but you get what you pay for. They're usually all fiberglass except for a metal brace where the hood mounts. They may also not have a hood latch since no metal frame.


My car is a 70 but I'd assume they have a 71 hood as well. They are different.

No the radio wasn’t original I purchased a 1971 am//fm in working. The radio it had was a 69 two piece which I I’ll be selling once the car is finished, the 69 works just not the correct radio.

Alan your the platinum standard of SX knowledge, glad your here and available. BTW the Beast should be done in about six weeks, she's looking great compared to what she went through. I know it's not factory, but I sprang for electric exhaust cut-outs.
