Thank you Gary I think I'm going to go with stopping at the trim.

I'm also not an expert. My 71 SX currently has the wheel moldings going to the bottom of the panel BUT I have photos taken before a previous owner painted the car and it shows the moldings stopping at the body side molding. My guess is that is original and correct and during the repaint the moldings were replaced with incorrect ones.

Nils, I am no expert but from what I can tell the wheel trim should stop at the body trim. This is the best I found from my research. Great looking SX by the way.

I own the red 71 with the black droptop, numbers matching in the club members cars. I'm getting ready to do a ground up restoration. Can someone tell me the correct length of the wheel trim? I have all new trim and would like to as accurate as possible I've seen Sx's with the trim completely around the wheel well and with it stopping at the body trim. Mine has two wheel wells stopping at the side trim and two going down to the opening ends. Will be post pictures as the car progress in both body and upgrades to the engine while still keeping it numbers matching.
