Ok Joe. That's a little more clear. I wasn't sure what you were saying in your first post. I'm very familiar with mondello and Oldsmobiles in general. I've owned a 69H/O and several toranados and cutlass supremes. The last car I did was a 70 CS with an eagle 488 stroker motor in it. After seeing what I did to the car the original owner needed it back so I did the right thing and sold it to him. The profit paid for the SX.
I know the rarity of these cars. My reason for asking the original question of wether it's worth restoring was sparked after reading the price guide on this site. According to it,my car restored would only bring around 25K should I decide to sell it. That doesn't make finatial sense if I bought the car for 4K and I'm looking at 25K to restore it. Especially since the original motor was replaced in 71. I appreciate your response though. Thank you.

John...its your preference to fully restore or not, the cost to fully restore is steep...but like I was trying to show you on that Mondello's Hall Fame web site was a featured 1970 hybrid Cutlass Supreme-442, which brought $165,000.00 at their last auction! If you are unsure after seeing this then your answer is obvious! Joe

I've been through the whole mondello.com site. I'm sorry but I can't find any drop down that says hall of fame. Did you see the pictures I posted? I think we're having two different conversations. My car is a hard top. Pictures are posted below.

John...it's not...it's a 1970 OLDSMOBILE 442 CUSTOM CONVERTIBLE, a hybrid! Did you go deep enough into the web page? Is that what he's "trying" to say? It was so vague that I had no idea. To be clear....I'm not trying to sell the car. I'm asking is it worth dumping 20K into from an investment standpoint. Do I go full resto or just make it pretty and enjoy it.

Hey this is not an SX (check it out anyway) but if you restore your SX to this level the sky is the limit on price, because your car is more rare! Go to Mondello.com, then to the "hall of fame

If you like the car and have the funds i would restore the car. I love the aspen green color as it is very rare. Post a picture if you can? Not sure if it can be done on the forum or not.

Hi guys. New to the group. I just picked up a 70SX that needs a lot of work. Whole interior and some body panel replacement. The car is all there and honest. They must have blown up the original 455 and replaced it with a 71 455. G heads. It's all stock with the manifolds ect still there. It's aspen green with green interior and black vinyl. It's an AZ car but has been in the northeast since 1990. I've got the original title but no build sheet. Everything says SX but we all know it's hard to prove without that sheet. It's a Michigan car so I can't get the sheet reproduced. It's got rust in the usual places for a car that's been sitting for 20 years. The underneath has held up well. The original trans and posi are still there. My question would be ....considering the going price of a restored SX is it worth it to completely restore this car? Or Get it running, do the interior and make it a driver?
