General Cutlass SX455 Q&A

1971 Cutlass SX - Need Authentication Help

Nicolas, Nice looking car, welcome!

2) Your front seats are not correct for this car; not just the pattern, but the seats themselves are not correct. They look to me like '73-'75-ish. Your rear seats appear to be correct.

4) You are correct about the taillights.

I'll let others respond to your other questions.

Kevin

Hi all,

New here! I believe I have 71 Cutlass SX Convertible. I have gone through all the tells and believe this to be true. However, I believe some parts have switched out and are not original to the car.

1) I believe the engine to be a 1975 455 - j heads, 800 cfm qjet with hot air choke (I converted to electric choke and Fa block. Also a Holley Single Plane Intake.

2) Are the buckets seats original? I can't seem to find any buckets like this on any 70's to 72's.

3) The rear axle is 8.5 10 Bolt - I believe it 3.42 ratios based on the RPM at 70 km/h and posi (has a little stamped tag)

4) Lenses on the rear tail light are incorrect and from a 72.

Attached all pictures and documents I have found. For context, this a driver a slowly fixing it up. Right now, it barely chirp the tires in first which is really disappointing. My next upgrade is a built 200r4 and 3.73 rear end unless I should go another route. Looking to add additional documentation as well.

Thank you!
