1970 SX For Sale by Owner
Author Last Post

Congratulations on your sale Jerry. If you'd be kind enough to point us towards the new owner so that we can update our records, you can email me at vette442@hotmail.com. Thanks! Terry

My "SX" has been SOLD!!

Jeffrey, just a quick note to let you know that the build sheet for this car shows "W26 D/GATE CONSOL" so, it seems that SX's could have a dual gate shifter.

It always make me chuckle when people perceive written words a certain way. Crass and condescending; I have never felt that Alan was either. I think that people, and not necessarily you, try to make things into what they aren’t sometimes. You have a nice car, Alan said you have nice car, repeatedly. However I agree with his communication regarding the authenticity aspect of this site and the SX models themselves.

You’ve no been told your window sticker isn’t legit. Regardless of what the seller told you when you bought it. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle as they say.

Now I think enough time has been spent on this topic of discussion regarding feelings and misconceptions of one’s tone in written format.

Good luck with the car sale, I hope you get every dollar you’re asking for.

Thank you, Alan, for your reply. In no way was I intentionally trying to misinform potential buyers of my SX. When I purchased this car, the previous owner gave me this document and stated to me that it was the original window sticker. I had no reason to discount his statement. I have read other comments from you on this site and you seem to be crass with your tone. You may be more knowledgeable than most on the SX but that doesn't give you the right to be condescending in you comments. I hope that, in the future, you will be more thoughtful of others with respect to their feelings and their cars.

I'm sorry that I hurt your feelings Jerry, but you need to understand my position and reasons for speaking frankly within this forum. First let me repeat myself that you have a very nice looking car. The upgrades you have made to this SX do nothing to distract from the cars value, and in fact, support the value of the car to a higher degree. My comment regarding the window sticker being a distraction from the cars value is exactly that. Posted anywhere else outside of this forum, you can say anything you want about your car and let the chips fall where thay may, but this forum is dedicated and designed to be the final authority with respect to the SX pedigree and authentication of what they really consist of. Not only do I personally inspect vehicles, but I am considered by many to be an expert on build sheet and documentation analysis. I consult weekly with people around the world documenting the authenticity of these vehicles and paperwork, and one poorly made window sticker makes me have to answer many questions reduntantly. Let me briefly explain the depth of misconception regarding your window sticker. First of all, the delivering dealers name and address at the top would all be in the same box with the dealers zone and code number included. Next the model should be listed a "Cutlass Supreme Hardtop Coupe" and make no reference to an "SX" which is an option to be listed below. As far as the options themselves are listed, some of the misconceptions are subtle as in the wrong descriptive wording, or all the prices for the options. Others should not be listed as they are included as standard equipment on this model. And finally, some of the options listed are not even options available on this model. With all that being said, let me reiterate that you have a very nice car. A car worthy of boasting its true credentials. This forum is the #1 authority in discrediting misconceptions about the SX cars and reporting nothing but the actual facts. My advice to you is, do not taint your cars integrity with implied misconception. It leads prospective knowledgable buyers to a path of percieved decption, which is not necessary. This forum is committed to helping people such as yourself, to get the most accurate and reliable information available, so that you can benefit the most value of your car.

I know Alan is not trying to hurt your feelings, but you are hurting my feelings. I didn't know you could get a dualgate shifter and that 3.91's were an option. I think what Alan is saying if someone doesn't know alot about these special Oldsmobile's they might think that a dualgate was an option and that you could get 3.91's I know on my '69 Hurst/Olds that with A/C you got 3.23's and without A/C you got 3.42's Its neat and Cool that you have all those wonderful upgrades and it makes your's very desirable, Best of luck with the Sale, you certainly have sparked an interest in me selling my SX!!

Alan, maybe you should think about what you are going to say before you put it in writing. You know your opinion just might not always be correct. The window sticker may be a reproduction but, there is nothing printed on it that the car doesn't have. It was given to me as the original window sticker and since I have no other one to compare it to, how would anyone know that it is a reproduction. This is a "true" SX as I have the build sheet to show that it is unless Alan Reedy thinks differently. In the future, please try to say things in a different tone as to not hurt someone's feelings.

pm sent to you.

I am interested can you send me more pics and videos

My 1970 Fremont built SX Window sticker look's different then your's.

It's a nice looking car, good luck with the sale. A word of advice, ditch that horrible reproduction window sticker. It does nothing but distract from any of the cars real original features with it's outrageous claims.

I am offering my SX for sale. I do have the Build Sheet for this car. I will list some of the major things that has been done to this SX since I have owned the car. The power steering gear box and coupler were replaced, stainless steel dual exhaust with new trumpet tips, rallye pac gauges upgrade from idiot lights, R71S battery (as original), five SSI wheels on Firestone Oval RWL tires from Coker (approximately 150 miles on the tires and I have the SSII wheels), AM/FM radio and rear speaker (I have the original AM radio), replaced timing chain and rear main seal, new motor mounts, replaced fuel sending unit, new carpet and front and rear seat upholstery (Legendary Interiors), new bucket seat backs, bases and release buttons (Legendary Interiors), deluxe seat belts and charged the A/C. There are a few flaws in the paint and the original glass has a few scratches. There are 9 photos attached to this message but, additional photos are available by request. Asking $40,000.
