NEW Restoration Questions

New Brake Lines

I could really use some advice on my 1970. Due to heavily rusted brake lines, seized calipers, and other issues with the original brake system, I decided to completely replace the entire brake system. I purchased new everything, had the calipers rebuilt, and used Inline Tube's stainless lines. Today was the day to bleed the system! Whoo hoo! Everything was great until we found a leak, then another, and another. In the end, about 1/3 of my new connections leaked at the double flared ends. These leaks occurred just using a vacuum bleeder and not even under braking pressure. I thought I had been meticulous fastening the connections, and I am flabbergasted to have so many leaks.


Can the group PLEASE help with some advice on what I might have done wrong, and provide any insight to the proper way to connect the lines to the assorted components? In general I made sure the male threads at the line flares started easily in each female thread, could screw in by hand, and that the mating surfaces were clean.
