General Cutlass SX455 Q&A

455 Engine Build
Author Last Post

Glad to help. We just went through an entire rebuild.

To everyone, at first i was skeptical about joining this Club but already i appreciate the advice I've recieved from you guys thank you Robert i have contacted Eagle Crank and purchased the Crank you suggested along with the connecting rods that go with it they are very helpful & accommodating, also to Alan it was great talking to you on the phone and i look forward to reaching out to Bill Travato, just to mention after we spoke i checkted some of my photo's on my phone of my #s matching transmission & the tag that you mentioned was right were you said it would be. 70 - OD , thank you all Matt

Hi Matt, sorry it took me a while to get back to you but I had to reach out to a few guys for input on this. As I previously informed you, Your best bet on an engine rebuilder near you is Bill Travato located in Rochester. You can find him here at http://btrperformance.com/ . He is well know and familiar with Oldsmobile engines and can take you from stock to where ever else you want to be.

Robert, thank you for the info very much appreciated, I will look into that eagle crank

If you can't find an original replacement, I just had my 1970 rebuilt with an Eagle crankshaft part # 104554260 (I believe same as stock specs). About $575.

I am in the process of restoring the 455 motor that goes to my SX and need to obtain some parts for the machinist mechanic who will be performing the work I'm looking for Crank Shaft and crank rods and need some advice from all of your experience should i be looking at newly manufactured parts (What manufacturer?) or after a little research that i have done should i be looking for "N" nodular crank # 397363 - is this what i should be looking for?, need your help and much appreciated,
